Hereford has received a Purple Flag award for the safety of our Night-time and Evening economy.
The award puts Hereford among 70 other cities who have also received the award, which is given when a City community demonstrates a level of care above and beyond expectations in the night time economy. Many organisations and volunteers were praised for their work throughout Hereford, including including door and bar staff, street sweepers, Street Pastor volunteers and CCTV officers.
Mayor Sharon Michael celebrated with others in High Town, commenting; “We have something very special going on in Hereford’s night time economy. So many people work so hard to make Hereford a great place to have a good night out.”
The Purple Flag will soon be seen flying in Hereford – a brilliant mark of excellence for our City! Our night-time economy has grown considerably over the past few years, and it’s the unsung heroes who dedicate their time and energy who are making that environment safer and more enjoyable.
