Councillor Mrs Julie Woodward was elected 630th Mayor of Hereford for the Municipal Year May 2011 – 2012. A true Herefordian, born and raised in Much Dewchurch, Julie moved into Hereford in 1985 when she married Andrew. She attended Hereford Technical College where she trained to become a qualified Baker & Confectioner. Their daughter Sophie was born in 1992 and Julie became a stay-at-home mum. In 1999 Sophie very graciously volunteered her mum’s help at Lord Scudamore School which led to Julie becoming Chairperson of the PTA and a School Governor!
It was her passion for the school that led to her interest in local politics. Julie later stepped down as Chairperson of the PTA and formed the St Nicholas Community Association with other members of the community. This is now a registered charity and very active within the community.
She was first elected to represent the St Nicholas Ward in 2007, along with the late Dave Benjamin and considers it an honour and a privilege to serve her community.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, gardening and listening to music.
The Mayor’s Charities for 2011-2012 are Help for Heroes and The Charles Renton Unit.
