Hereford City Youth Council is made up of young people who are interested in developing campaigns and projects about issues that are important to them, and ensuring that every young person can have a say in decisions that affect them.
These young people are recruited from: local youth provision, school councils, voluntary organisations and local residents. Youth councillors have one year in post, although you are welcome to continue for longer and apply in consecutive years to continue as a youth councillor up to the age of 24. Youth Councillors are involved in campaigns that use consultation processes, film or other creative methods to explore a particular theme in their community.
They engage with the City Council on issues important to the young people of this City, identify and assist with the delivery of two campaigns per year, and longer serving youth councillors will also have the opportunity to mentor new youth councillors.
Youth Councillors must be between the ages of 14 to 21 years of age (born between September 1996 and September 2003) or for those with learning disabilities 25 years of age (Born after September 1992).
